Convention Theme—Nursing: A Journey Into the New Frontier |

|
Happy New Year TNSA. I hope everyone’s break from school was relaxing! I know everyone is probably anxious about school starting, but I have some good news: Convention is coming up February 26 - 28, 2009. Get pumped because this year’s convention will be in the Omni Houston Hotel Westside. This year’s theme is “Nursing: A Journey into the New Frontier.” I think the title explains itself: a new year, a new U.S. President, and the economy changes. Also, look out for new focus session topics such as, Trauma Care: Harris County Hospital District; Military Nursing; The Patient’s Story; Jumping in the Deep End of the Pool; Tips for Success in your First Nursing Role; Getting IT: Interview Techniques. I am proud to announce that Cole Edmonson, Chief Nursing Officer of Medical City Dallas Hospital will be our key note speaker. Mr. Edmonson has facilitated the development of numerous programs through out his career and is a published author. Most recently, as the CNO, he led his organization to be the 1st in HCA, 1st in North Texas to receive Magnet Re-designation from ANCC. Lastly, who is ready to party? I know I am! This year’s opening night party/dance is themed “Partying in Area 51.” Come dressed as your favorite “alien figure” and get ready to party the night away! |
