Regional Updates

Hi, I am Philip MacIntyre, the Southern Regional Director for the 2007-2008 TNSA Board of Directors. I hail from the University of Texas at Austin. This fall, I will be entering my senior year of college and the second semester of the nursing program there.

Council of Schools is coming up in San Antonio. Southern Region, let's show the rest of Texas why we love it. This is also the beginning of the school year; I can't wait to meet new people and rejoin with old friends. I really want to see some inter-school interactions and planning going on.

I am very excited about being a student nurse and being part of the TNSA board. We are all very enthusiastic about working together for each of you and this organization. I am very open and can always be reached by email if you ever need anything or have a suggestion, and I don't turn away compliments, either.

I am Melissa Smith, Western Regional Director for the current TNSA Board of Directors.  I am a senior nursing student at Texas Tech Health Science Center, in Lubbock, and as the Western Regional Director, I am responsible for motivating the students in my region to become more involved in their local TNSA chapters.  I also help relay information about TNSA business and events to local members.  I am excited to be a part of the Board of Directors this year as we work on new ideas to get people interested and fired up to participate in conventions, as well as strengthen their local chapters.  As the chair of the Break Through to Nursing Committee, I want support the current nursing student’s involvement and reach out into the community to spark interest in the nursing profession. I am very excited about the upcoming Council of Schools and TNSA State Convention and the opportunity to meet with other nursing students from all over Texas.  I hope that, through our involvement, ordinary students will have an impact on the future of nursing.  I hope you are all ready for a great year.

To all of my fellow students:

I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Victoria Duncan and I am currently serving as the Eastern Regional Director for TNSA.  I am entering my fourth semester of nursing school and look forward to the many new learning opportunities.  I am on the committee for the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses and am very excited to be involved.  I hope everyone had a safe and fabulous summer, even if classes were involved. I am looking forward to the up coming year for the members of TNSA.  I believe that the council of schools in San Antonio will be a wonderful learning experience.  I hope that everyone will mark their calendars and make every attempt to attend the conference. Lets all show our pride and honor of being nursing students by supporting our own association with a huge turn out.  I hope to see everyone in San Antonio.  Please contact me if there is anything that I may assist you with.
