Time To Get Involved! Hey guys! My name is Felicia Bell, and I am currently finishing up my last semester at Kilgore College in Kilgore, TX! I am 24 years old and live in Hallsville. I am not married and have no children except for my miniature schnauzer, Kinzy. I love Mexican food, scary movies and NURSING! I have previously attended Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas where I was a member of the TVCC Cardettes from 2001-2003. Go Cards! I was also a member of the TJCSGA were I was school parliamentarian and Regional Vice President. From 2003 to 2005 I attended UT Tyler and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Health Professions. I started my Master’s in Public Administration and it was at that point that I realized down in the trenches of health care was more the place for me than behind a desk. I decided to be a nurse because my sister had Cystic Fibrosis and underwent a double lung transplant. My sister passed in March of 2001. Growing up with this illness, I spent a lot of time in hospitals and always admired and came to care for the many nurses that helped my sister and my family. Once I grew up (ha-ha, still not there yet!) I knew that this was the profession for me! I am always an involved person. I can never do anything halfway or sit back and let other people make decisions. I like to have my voice heard and I like to lead. So it was only natural that when I joined my school’s SNA program that I would run for office. I became the school’s chapter president in October of 2006. Once I arrived at Convention, I was shocked at the LOW amount of participation there was to run for board positions of the TNSA. It was with this that I decided to run for NEC Chair. EDUCATE, MOTIVATE and INSPIRE all of YOU to become MORE INVOLVED!!! I’ll be at Council of Schools with information on WHY you should run for board positions, WHAT the board positions are, and HOW to run! Please come to Council of Schools, there you will have your questions answered, learn some cool stuff, and get to hang out with lots of other nursing students!
